The Central Bank of Egypt has issued Decision No. 106 of 2026 approving the granting of a license to onebank (onebank S.A.E.) to operate as a digital bank in Egypt, according to the official publication.
Completing the Procedures
The decision follows a meeting of the Central Bank’s Board of Directors held on January 27, during which the bank’s application to obtain the license was approved.
The Central Bank stipulated that One Bank must complete all required regulatory and legal procedures in compliance with the Central Bank and Banking System Law No. 194 of 2020, in addition to adhering to all relevant supervisory regulations to ensure the safety and integrity of digital banking operations.
Financial Inclusion
This move comes as part of the Central Bank of Egypt’s strategy to expand financial inclusion and encourage innovation in financial services, in line with global technological developments and the growing shift toward the digital economy.
